This is the selling point, and it delivers. The reservoir faces east, so the sunrise hits the water directly. You get about 20–30 minutes of golden hour where the turquoise fingers of the reservoir glow against the dark green hills. The mist burns off the water below you. The sky cycles through purple, orange, pink, and gold. On clear mornings, you can see the mountains of Eastern Antioquia silhouetted on the horizon. It's genuinely one of the best sunrise views in South America.

• 4:30am pick-up — there's no sugarcoating it. If you went out in Medellín the night before, you'll suffer.
